In 2018, VODEC Africa launched the Idea Challenge, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs across Ghana.

This program has successfully nurtured innovative business ideas, exemplified by the success of a young entrepreneur from the Northern Region who established a Kente weaving company.

As we look ahead to 2026, we are excited to continue this journey of empowerment, creativity, and cultural pride through the next edition of the Idea Challenge.

Objective

The primary objective of the VODEC Idea Challenge is to discover, support, and fund innovative business ideas from young entrepreneurs in Ghana.

We aim to provide essential funding and technical support to selected participants, fostering entrepreneurship that contributes to economic growth and cultural preservation.

Selection Process

The selection process for the VODEC Idea Challenge will involve several key steps:

1. Call for Applications:

Launch a nationwide call for applications through various channels (social media, universities, community centers).
Provide clear guidelines on eligibility criteria, application format, and submission deadlines.

2. Application Submission:

Interested participants will submit their business ideas through a structured online platform.
Each application must include a detailed business plan, outlining the concept, market analysis, financial projections, and impact on the community.

3. Initial Screening:

A panel of experts will conduct an initial review of all submissions to shortlist candidates based on innovation, feasibility, and social impact.

4. Pitch Deck Preparation:

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a series of workshops focused on developing their pitch decks.

5. Pitch Event:

Selected finalists will present their pitch decks to a panel of judges consisting of industry experts, investors, and successful entrepreneurs.

7. Final Selection:
